So what i am planning to do is to stream battlefield on twitch.tv
is the R9 290 fast enough for me to just screen capture with OBS? or will it be stutter during gameplay like on my gtx 560 and requires a capture card?

~well for now i made 2 options

should i go for a GTX780, about $620 AUD
or
should i go for a R9 290, about $500 AUD + (the AverMedia live gamer HD lite about $100 AUD)?

P.S I would also like to have my system as quiet as possible at idle or when I'm not gaming... I heard you the R9 cards powers down when not in high use?
it would be great of someone clears this up for me thank you. =D

The kepler cards have a built in video encoder, do you think a capture would be still necessary for the 780?
780s are significantly cooler and quieter than the 290s, but you gotta ask yourself if it's worth the money. It might be worth it to go look on newegg to look at the games they offer with them, that might be a deciding factor.

Capture cards are there to provide relief on your graphic card and or give you better quality. If you expect to record and experience little to no difference from when you're not recording, you're going to need a capture card.

Edit: I guess that doesn't answer your question huh.... If you are going to be using max setting, expecting to produce 1080p videos without loosing quality or fps from your recording software get a capture card.

No, keep in mind quite a few people on youtube use 780s with no capture card. Like DevilDogGamer, just off the top of my head, who is famous for dayz.... FrankieonPc who is also quite famous for dayz uses a 690, But notice both of theses guys have crazy cpus for rendering.
