Hello all!

I have been looking at two processors specifically:
1) Intel it-4690 and is $240
or
2) AMD FX 8-Core Black Edition FX-8370E which is $180

For streaming 720@60fps on a BEAST gaming machine next to it, via HDMI and a capture card...what is going to be the most bang for my buck for Twitch streaming efficiently without issues (and a couple other programs running in the background.

Well..... neither! Go for a zeon (1231). It's a quad core with hyperthreading which will make it awesome for recording, streaming, rendering - you name it. Since it can't be overclocked get a cheap h97 mobo (like the asrock h97 pro4). You can also skip the cpu cooler.

You don't already have any parts with you, right?

I put links up but saw you included your own. I have a PC i took from work and am just going to clean it out and use the shell and SSD I bought for it. It has a shitty 2 core AMD and 4gb of RAM...so I will need ram (probably corsair vengeance 1866 8GB), CPU, mobo, new PSU probably, was checking out the corsair hx750i

Was hoping the cheaper AMD would do the work lol I dont mind spending extra, I just want to know if it will make the huge difference.

I currently Stream FSX and P3D Flight Sim Software on my Gaming rig, but need it HDMI captured over to the new stream PC

its for streaming. the FSX machine has an i7-4790k, i am specifically talking about a new but not expensive streaming machine that will still keep the gaming rig looking good via stream.

I'm slightly confused as to the point.

You can simply record or stream with NVidia Shadowplay if you have an NVidia card or OBS. OBS supports Intel Quick Sync I believe in case you have an AMD card (because you don't want to use software capture mode). Or use OBS with NVENC (NVidia hardware encoder) if you like its software better than Shadowplay.

You get perhaps 5% FPS hit max using Shadowplay at 1080p @60FPS. If you use HDMI Capture hardware there's no hit since it's sampling the output, but you don't need much of a CPU since the card (or external box) does all the encoding. The CPU in this case is barely used so anything will work.

Anyway, making a PC specifically to record just seems a waste to me when I've found Shadowplay or OBS works very well on the main PC.

To be clear, I can STREAM from a single rig using an i7-3770K + GTX680 while gaming or record and stream later. My ONLY issue is upload speed and nothing else and that's a network problem not a capture one.

You don't need a new PC. You don't need a capture card or box.

What about this=

Solution
pertaining to photonboy, you're technically correct. However the lag while streaming/not streaming is so huge, trust me you notice the lag time and fps drops. Without streaming it is god-like. So..with that said, ykki you are the most helpful. That setup looks great. Is there anything in there worth upgrading at all, I dont mind spending a few extra bucks as long as its worth it, or rather...will make the difference. If not, then thanks :)

remember we are talking about FSX here, a very cpu intensive program

also would it be possible to build a similar list via intel's end? I have a ATX box already as well as an SSD

If it were up to everyone here and had the choice of the AMD FX 8-Core Black Edition FX-8370 or the Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3, what would you get? Money is somewhat of a factor so, choose wisely?

yes that would be great! Are you streaming with what cpu usage? Keep in mind since I do aviation simming on my gaming rig, I want to be able to use some of the Aviation programs that DO eat up a bit of CPU, helps with real-time navigation etc..

You know that it is missing the psu right? DO you need anything else in that build except a psu?
As for intel=

You can get an hdd later.

Are you sure this is everything that you need? Am I missing anything?

ykki, why the Xeon over the newer i5 chips? Just curious what the pros or cons are vs going amd or the i5 with the xeon? I am not to familiar with them outside of knowing one exists in the dedicated server I rent, but thats a server

The xeon is basically a locked i7 without any integrated graphics. It has got 4 hyper threaded cores which gives it an advantage over the i5.
The xeon has got the good of both worlds = threadcount of AMD and IPC of Iintel (but sadly no over clockability).

There is also another thing you can do = wait for broadwell (intel's new chips). They are going to debut soon.

The only purpose of the pc is streaming the received video? You can do that flawlessly on a 10 year old cpu. Your old amd one would more than suffice. However, as mentioned before, the idea of rerouting the stream doesn't make sense. With shadowplay, you're taking at most a 2-3 fps performance hit, with almost no load on the cpu. If you get lag and stutter while streaming, it's not the stream itself but that you misconfigured something. Buying a whole new pc would be a waste, not more, not less.
