So I have the i5 6600k and I am running a stress test through CPU-Z, my benched score was 7000, but after running the stress test for a few minutes the score is now hovering at 3400 with drops down to a 1000? Was staying around 7000 first few minutes.

Also Cpu utilization is bouncing form 60% to 100%

Solution
Check your task manager to see if anything is running in the background while your running cpu-z also make sure your cpu cooler fan is picking up speed with the temps rising. There is a fail safe for temps on your motherboard usually a threshold that once it hits that temp/range it will down-clock your cpu to avoid damaging it.

Solution
Hi

If system is over heating then cpu is slowed down to prevent damage

Could be heat sink not fitted securely , too much or little thermal compound

Lack of additional cooling fans, or fans not blowing air in the correct direction

(Assuming over clocking not done or done correctly unless intel heatsink replaced)
