Strix B250F - Won't Boot. Solid Orange Standby LED

Hey guys,

Building a PC for my friend but I can't get it to boot. It's a Strix B250F motherboard and when I attempt to boot I just get a solid orange LED for the Standby Power.

No fan movements, nothing.

The CPU is an 8500k but he bought it second hand on amazon.

Is there a chance the CPU is DOA?>

I tried the usual, un-plug everything except motherboard and cpu power. Tried different RAM slots, single RAM stick but nothing works.

It's always a solid orange standby power light. I'm worried the CPU is just completely dead. Would I be possible right in thinking this?

I received a used i7-980 from Ebay last summer and it was dead. They sent a replacement and it worked and still is....so it's definitely possible...and in my case....that's what it was.

You need a 300 series motherboard for 8000 series cpu

check the cpu support list on the manufacturer website
