[SOLVED] Struggling to boot

Morning all,

So last week I tested my new components putnof the box and everything worked fine, yesterday I drained my loop and the motherboard and cpu over in my case knowing it works from last week. I've put everything together and when I turned it on the led light on my strix b550 mobo lit up but the pc wouldn't boot, I've tried everything. After almost a day of scratching my head I took everything out and put it together in my case without the water-cooled parts in and it worked fine and booted. Now I've put the water-cooled parts back it im having the same problem with not booting, can anyone help?

Sounds to me there is someting wrong with the pump or wiring, dead short.

The pump worked okay when I bridged the 24 pin to be able to fill the loop. Just when the 24 pins connected to the mobo its not having it

Yeah I used my old psu when I out it outside the case and my main one when it was inside the case and both worked fine. Issue seems to be once I've installed the cpu block gpu.

Did you unplug the cpu power cables before starting the psu?

The 8pin and 4pin cpu cables are joth plugged in when trying to turn it on. Shouldn't unplug them and try it again?

No I had them plugged in

Ouch, so when the loop is not plugged in, the pc boots. With it, no boot?

Yeah correct, I'm thinking maybe the cpu block is causing it to short somehow?

When I built it without the water-cooled stuff j used the wrath cooler and an old 1080 on air, and the pc booted fine into the bios. Just been since the cpu is on ot seems to be the issue

Take your pc appart and check for watermarks and or white resadue marks from your cooler on the cpu block. Maybe a leak

Apart from the wrath cooler that came with the 5600x no, I had to order a new one because I had an older 1155 socket. Needed to get a am4 one

Yeah checked for leaks, its clean

Unfortunately I don't. Do you know how or why the cpu might be causing it? Nothing gets plugged into to it. I've checked to see if its sat correctly aswell

Its not the cpu, as you said. It runs without the aio plugged in. Plug in a fan into the cpu fan header and try to boot. If it runs, its the pump. Shut down quikly if it runs

I'll give it a go, wish me luck because I'm running out of options haha

Your post reminds me of many others. This MAY be linked to another matter entirely - stand-offs. The tip-off to me was that it all works just fine OUT of the case on a dry surface, but acts like there is a power problem or short circuit when in the case. It was written for someone planning to move the system to a new case, but the whole thing also applies to building a new system. Proper placement of stand-offs is NECESSARY to avoid shorting to Ground (the case) any traces on the BOTTOM of the mobo.

I have double checked the mounting screws as this was my first thought because I've done this before.. I have taken the pc back to basics and have the mobo, stock cpu cooler and a spare gpu. Plugged everything is with my newer psu and had no joke, then changed to my old psu and it works? When I text me newer psu it all works fine. Honestly put of ideas
