Struggling to get the 1gb speed out of the XB6 (much needed for telework & video conferencing). We have the Comcast XB6, direct wired (cat5e) to the PC, and it is only getting maybe 170Mbps download. Is it the cat5e cable? Is it the NIC?

Solution
Comcast XB6 - 1gb problems (we need it to work correctly for video conferencing). Trying to 1gb speed out of the Comcast XB6 (much needed for telework & video conferencing).

  1. We have upgraded to the 1gb speed through Comcast
  2. We have the Comcast XB6, direct wired (cat5e) to the PC
  3. Even with that speed upgrade, and direct wire, it is only getting maybe 170Mbps download.
Is it the cat5e cable? (do I need to upgrade to cat6)

Is it the NIC?
For home use gigabit is not required for video conferencing. Your bandwidth is probably less than 50Mbit at 4K unless you have setup your video conference poorly.
Do all wired devices have this problem?
What is the make and model of the motherboard?
Have you tried booting...

Have you tried booting a Linux OS to see if it is a software problem?

Video confrencing uses UPLOAD bandwidth. You may have gigabit down, but what is your upload bandwidth. 170 down would be fine, but if you only have 1Mbit up, you will be in trouble.
