Struggling with upgrading my PC

Hi everyone!

I'm struggling with upgrading my old, bad PC. I've listed the specs of my old PC below. Recently I bought a new GTX 1060 GPU because I thought the lack of a GPU was bottlenecking me the most. I have currently installed the GPU, but now my PC is struggling with almost all of the games even more. I know the GTX 1060 is overkill for this build but I'm in the middle of the upgrade-proces, and that's where I need your help. I personally think that the RAM, Case and GPU are fine in the current state but what do you think is the cause of the lower frames? And in what order should I replace my parts? Do I need a new Motherboard with another socket than FM2+ or can a AMD A10 CPU be just fine in this build?
I would like some advice, thanks in advance :)

Specs:
Motherboard: MSI A78M-E35
CPU: AMD A6-6400k Dual-Corewith Radeon HD Graphics
GPU: APU Integrated graphics (Upgraded to a Gigabyte Windforce GTX1060 OC 3GB)
PSU: MS-Tech MS-N450 Sys
RAM: 2x4gb Ballistix 1600MHz DDR3
CASE: Cooler Master K350

Are you saying that you have a lower FPS at the same settings than you had before?
Are you sure that you have properly installed the NVidia drivers?

Anyway, if you want to upgrade, you need a better CPU, at least an i5, either from the 4th or 6th generation. I would personally go for a 4xxx CPU, because it's cheaper and you can also keep your RAM.

Yes, in less GPU intensive games I have lower FPS than before with the same settings.
Can it be that my PSU is not good enough for what it has to do right now?

Athlon X4 880k is the best CPU for that socket and it's not very expensive. About $100.
You could maybe upgrade the PSU to a CX430M or Seasonic S12II.. Other than that..
Another option is to go with a H81 motherboard and a Haswell Pentium or i3.. Better option, if you ask me.
H81 - $50
Pentium - $50
i3 - $110
(Prices are average)

Thanks for comfirming that. My GPU has a recommended PSU wattage of 400W, so is it worth getting a 650W over a 550W? I do not plan to upgrade my GPU in the near future.

Thanks for looking into it. Will any of these CPUs run good in combination with my GPU? And will it be able to run 1080p game releases well in the future?

I did, but I might have screwed that up. I'm going to deinstall and install it all again.

Then I think the i5 4460/4690 is the best option?
