Stuck at 30Mbps

My plan is a 155Mbps DL speed by Comcast, but it's stuck at 30Mbps. Help please? I bought a new router a while back (maybe a year ago) and it is said to cap the internet at 10/100/1000 Mbps somewhere? Sorry i am really new with routers and such, help would be appreciated!

If you aren't testing your network speed with a wired connection to your router, that is the first thing you need to do.

Testing this speed from where?

The only test that matters is wired directly to the router, from speedtest.net.

I am using an ethernet cable if that is what u guys mean by wired

Speed from Steam doesn't count. That may just be what Steam can give you.
But if you're only getting 30Mbps from speedtest.net, then there are apparently issues.

So, you have a 1gb capable router, connected via wire....
First, try a different cable
Second, get a Comcast tech to check things out. It may well be on their end.

Speed from Steam doesn't count. That may just be what Steam can give you.
But if you're only getting 30Mbps from speedtest.net, then there are apparently issues.

First, try a different cable
Second, get a Comcast tech to check things out. It may well be on their end.

Yes we have tried this, but all they say is restart the server etc.etc.

OK....and after resetting the router...and you still get the same?
Then what do they say?
