Question Stuck at 60hz with 100hz monitor.

I just bought an MSI Pro MP2422C 100hz monitor, 1080p and everything (https://my.msi.com/Business-Productivity-Monitor/PRO-MP2422C/Specification). For some reason, the 100Hz does not pop up in my Display Advanced Settings. It can run at a higher refresh rate of 75Hz, but at very low resolutions, which is not something I'm willing to sacrifice. It has worked before with 144Hz monitors so I don't see any reason for it not to work with 100Hz.
I've tried everything with Nvidia Control Panel, Device Manager, even Intel Graphics Command Center. Nothing is working.
I started noticing this problem last year, with my dad's 75Hz monitor. It used to be able to run at 75Hz but got capped at 60. I didn't really mind then, but I bought the new monitor for the better refresh rate.

CPU: Intel i5-1153G7 (Intel Iris Xe Graphics)
GPU: Nvidia MX330
RAM: 8GB

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What is the make and model of your laptop? An SKU would help us two fold. Chances are that the laptop's discrete GPU is wired to pass through Intel's iGPU so you're not going to go above 60Hz.
I'm using a 15.6` Dell Inspiron 3501. Been using it for just under 3 years now.

Do you have NvidiaCP installed from MS store? If it is installed, have you checked in there?

If your laptop was able to run 144Hz monitors previously try using Custom Resolution Utility. That'll see if Windows is the problem or hiding refresh rate for some reason.

Hdmi should work if you had it work before but if your laptop has USBc port with Displayport logo (white P inside black D) or Thunderbolt it can output video via this output as well which opens other possibilities for higher refresh rate Displayport monitors. Just any Usbc to Displayport cable will work.

I tried this and followed all the instructions, still only shows options for 60Hz, 59Hz and 50Hz. My laptop does have thunderbolt. Would you suggest a thunderbolt to hdmi cable?

Not really sure on this one. Intel graphics have some limitations on HDMI but I would expect it to have a 120 Hz limit, not 60 Hz. Going through DisplayPort (USB-C/Thunderbolt) may help, but it it's a passive adapter then it may inherit the same HDMI limitations. If that doesn't work then an active USB-C to HDMI adapter would probably work.
Bad news: I went through my laptop specifications and it turns out the USB-C port isn't thunderbolt. I've just contacted my laptop manufacturer's tech support, but I'm just stuck now.

You say you were able to run 144 Hz monitors in the past, but the manual for the Inspiron 3501 specifically says (pages 7 & 12) that the maximum resolution support through HDMI is 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz. What 144 Hz monitors are you saying it worked with? If you had a 144 Hz monitor, why did you change to your Dad's 75 Hz monitor and now this 100 Hz monitor?
The 144hz was my friend's, might try to test it out again with their monitor. After reading the manual I think you might be right, but I definitely did remember running at 1080p with a higher refresh rate.
