[SOLVED] Stuck at PCIe 3.0

Hey everyone,
So I recently got a RTX 3080 and I plugged it into my motherboard ROG Strix z590-E which says it has PCIe 4.0 capability,
I checked my manual and plugged it into the right slot, but when I load GPU-Z the 3080 never goes beyond 3.0. It does reach x16 though. Is there anything I can do to get the feature of my newer mobo?

Do you have anything installed in any other slots? You're using the closest slot to the CPU? And what CPU are you using?

Are you using a riser cable? You are not actually loosing anything by running 3.0 but it should still work

There is no riser cable, and I have one m.2 in one of the slots, the manual says PCIe_1 and _2 have no shared bandwidth. I went into the motherboard to manually set the speed, but it only shows GEN 1 GEN 2 GEN 3.
CPU is i9 10850K,
The card was originally is the other slot, but then it was showing X8 3.0 instead of X16, so I moved it up.

CPU is the problem. 10th gen is PCie 3.0 support

Per the Motherboard specs:

2 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 slot(s)*

- Intel® 11th processors support PCIe 4.0 x16 or x8/x8 or x8/x4 mode(s)

- Intel®10th processors support PCIe 3.0 x16 or x8/x8 or x8/x4 mode(s)

So nothing is wrong! Thanks for helping me find that information. This is my first PC build so some of the details slipped by me.
In other words, if in the future I upgrade the CPU I should get the 4.0?

If you purchase an 11th gen Intel CPU it will support 4.0. That said with an i9 you're not gaining THAT much to be worth swapping to an 11th gen, and PCIe 4.0 will make no noticeable impact to your gaming performance. Basically not worth upgrading on that platform. 12th gen will likely be on a different platform.
