This is the hardware:
- Asus M5A97 R2.0 AMD 970 ATX MB .
- CPU is an AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition AM3 CPU.
- Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL10 .
- ASUS GeForce GT 440 1GB GDDR5 PCIe w/HDMI & DVI.
- Seagate 2TB Serial ATA HD 7200/64MB/SATA-6G .
- 550W PS Ultra.

This is the problem:
All I get when I turn it on is the ASUS post screen, where you can hit the Delete button to enter into the Bios, or whatever it's called.
All fans are running and I've switched my ram from one slot to another and still nothing. None of the trouble indicator lights are on or flashing and no beep codes. That`s all I get.

I've cleaned it and nothing seem to make a difference. Could it be the RAM? Or could it be the CPU?

Solution
Ok. here is the final results, after installing a new MB and CPU, it turned out to be the one piece of hardware I didn't test, the hard drive. Well luckily I had a new one kicking about and tossed it in. I am pleased to say, this message is coming to you from my old new computer. I finally fixed my old case, and tossed the new board and CPU in and moved whatever else I needed from the old computer to this one. I will rebuild the other one, and demote it to the movie computer when I get around to getting a new CPU (Dropped the other, I-bad) And GC. All and all happy with how everything worked out.
And a big thanks for all the help!!!
Ok. Tried all that. (never did either before, was fun)
Still can't get passed the Asus "please press DEL to...." I'm still stuck. But keep the suggestions coming.
I've never popped the battery before. Took me a bit to find it, buried under the graphics card. LOL.

You can try the "Usb Bios Flashback" option,to install the latest bios (or reinstall it),maybe that will help.
Look into the motherboard manual (english version) for what to do,means which usb port on the back i/o to use and which button on the motherboard itself to make it work.Look if the name needs to be changed for the bios file when putting it on a stick. At least make sure it's unpacked,it being a zip file first.
If the update is working don't interfere, let it be until done.

I can put some more effort in if you're not sure, but you seem capable enough to find what you need.

I was thinking the same thing. I have swapped out the ram already, so that ones off the list. I just don't have the parts handy to try the power supply or the CPU. I'll have to see what's in the other computer, besides this one, and see what's compatible. Wish me luck.
