My computer ( Dell XPS 9100 ) used to work fine until recently it can't load windows 7.
It gets stuck at "windows is loading files" and then i have to reboot.
After some research ive tried:

Windows repair. It didn't work and whenever it reboots i get stuck at the same screen.
Chkdsk : i don't know if i did it right but i tried some chkdsk commands i found on google and it didn't solve anything.

Bios: i also tried removing the bios batery for 10 minutes and replacing it didn't solve the issue.

I tried booting using only 1 stick on RAM and it didn't help either.
Recovery: i tried a recovery but i dont have an image of my computer so i tried to reformat ( it usually works) but it says "not enough space on disk" or something ..
I also tried memory tests and hardware tests but i dont think they've found anything..

Could it be my hard drive? How do i check if its the hard drive or a problem related to the partitions?
I dont have a windows instalation disk, i think the OS in in D: by default

Please help me out, i don't know what to do!
Thanks a lot!

Ialso noticed that my motherboard batery was kinda burned but very very slighly.. May be it was just dirty but i dont know for sure if it could be a problem.. May be you guys know how to check this..

I also forgot to say that i probably installed too many drivers, which could be an issue.. Although it was only an issue when i played skyrim it kept crashing.

Download Unbuntu on another computer and burn it to a dvd or mount it on a thumb, then try to boot into it without installing. This will help eliminate hardware issues if it works, then you know its your windows installation. Although it doesn't sounds hardware related.

Regarding the "not enough space" message. Is your drive actually full, or close to being full to your knowledge? When you're trying to recover does it show you the partitions and available space?

Thanks for the long post but as i mentionned I cant get into windows and i cant reformat because i get the " not enough disk space " msg..
When i press f8, it gets past the " windows is loading files" then it automatically starts to repair the computer saying " the computer may restart several times during the process". When it restarts it gets stuck at the same screen again. If i cancel the repair process and click on " advanced options " , the last option of the list is about restoring but then again I can't restore to the factory image because I get " not enough room on the disk" message ...

At least I can get the command prompt window if that could help..

In other words, I can't get the Advanced boot options black screen I used to get when pressing f8..so it also means I can't boot into safe mode either..
I think it is due to the fact that This screen is related to windows and the computer can't detect it at all..
Is there a command i could use in the command prompt to check if windows is installed or not?
I'll try yo get a windows 7 installation cd ..

You said you could get to the command prompt. When you type dir + enter. It should tell you the free space left on the drive at the bottom of the file/directory list. I'd do this for the c: and d: partitions.

Ty i'll try this tonight

Ok so i typed
dir C:
and dir D:

dir C: loads some files and it says
997 files 226,557,536 bytes
67 Dirs 30,273,536 bytes free
then

dir C:
Volume of drive C is recovery
volume serial number is 7A10-FB3B
Directory of C:\
0 files 0 byte
1 Dir 5,026,095,104 bytes free

when i type
dir D:
i get:
The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

what does that mean? i think windows is in the same partition than my other files?

when i try to reformat the computer, they ask me where do I want to install windows.

Disk 0 Partition 1,
total size: 39 mb
free space 30.0 mb
type: OEM (Reserved)

Disk 0 Partition 2: RECOVERY
total size: 10.9 MB
Free space: 4.7 GB
type: System

Disk 0 Partition 3
Total size 920.6 GB
Free space: 920.6 GB
Type: Primary

I won't make a move, may be you will have a clue what to do next?
I'd like to keep my files if possible..!

Tell me if i'm wrong but it looks like i already lost all my files?... 920GB free space on a 920 GB partition!
