Hi guys, something happened overnight to my laptop, it is a HP Pavillion DV7 running Windows 7 and Bios vendor Insydeh20 version f.1b.

What is happening is that when I turn on my computer i get stuck at a Windows Resume Loader screen, it gives me 2 options to get out of there but the problem is that my keyboard will not respond when I am on that screen. I then connected a USB keyboard (All lights on keyboard light up) but it still wont respond.

I am able to enter BIOS and switch boot orders, I tried to load a windows 7 CD first but before it loads it goes to the windows resume loader screen and the keyboard again does not respond. Then I tried loading windows through a USB flashdrive, and again, back to that screen. It seems I cant start anything (system restore, safe mode) before going through that screen. I tried to access my advanced options in BIOS but I cant seem to unlock it, from what I have read HP blocks the option to access the advanced options.. forbidding me to get access to a command prompt screen where I would be able to run chkdsk or any other commands. I am really stuck ..

My battery is currently broken so I have been using the notebook directly plugged for a while now.

I have tried to reset the BIOS settings but whenever I try to load anything, even through bios (before my HD would have to load) still takes me to that screen, and like always.. I cant press enter on neither keyboards (note keypad or usb keyboard) but I can press Ctrl Alt Del which restarts the laptop..

Usually I would format or restore my hard drive but this time I cant even load anything.. I appreciate the help, I am reallllly stuck this time.

Thank you

The problem with the boot orders is that your computer is trying to reload a suspend state, not boot from scratch. I imagine the suspend state is corrupt somehow. If the battery doesn't work then maybe the power got knocked while the computer was hibernating (creating this suspend state). Is there a boot menu function (separate from the main BIOS) that you can access? This may override the systems default behaviour of resuming before trying to boot.

Hey thanks for the reply. When I turn on my note I can either hit ESC or F10, F10 takes me directly to BIOS but ESC gives me some options like memory diagnosis, system recovery (doesnt work), and boot order, but when I choose boot order I can only scroll through the current boot order and it says on the right side of the screen to change the settings in BIOS. Is there any other way I can try to boot this? I also have an external HD, but I havent been able to boot it on with the notebook yet, it says it is missing mrsld something like that.. I do have a folder with a copy of all windows 7 files on the drive but no .ISO or anything. Is it possible to make the external drive work? What files do I need on it?

Thank you
