Question Stuck (for a while) in memory detection during booting

I have a weird one guys.
I always have a weird one, but this one has me a little confused too.

You know that moment in boot-up when you see a memory recount where it identifies your memory as Single Channel Memory Mode (or dual), that lasts 0.0002 nanoseconds, before moving to the the rest of the POST and OS?
Well. Suddenly this is taking a minute or so to complete, and it's got me a little worried.
More specifically - the booting stops dead still saying "Single Channel Memory Mode", and suddenly it completes about a minute later.

I haven't tried a CMOS clearing yet, but I'm curious as to -why- this could be happening now, and what could this mean?

The core is somewhat old (about 6+~ years now) - everything else is recent.

CPU: FX 8150
Video: GTX 970
Ram: 8GB DDR3
Mobo: Asrock 760GM-HDV
PSU: Cougar VTC 600W
HD: Western Digital 240G SSD
HD: WD 500G HDD

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS.

How old is the computer? Any recent hardware or software changes.

CMOS battery?

My thought is that, over time, components have loosened which they do because of expansion/contraction and vibrations.

Power down, unplug, open the case.

Clean out dust and debris.

Reseat all cards, cables, RAM, and jumpers. Do so by touch: gently press and wiggle all into place to ensure that they are fully and firmly seated.

Nothing is -too- old, except the CPU.

No recent hardware change - well, except for adding an USB network adapter, since the mobo's one stopped functioning. Hmm. I might be shorting.

Battery SHOULD be ok. The mobo is from last year.
