I finally decided to upgrade an old PC from Windows 7 Ultimate due to update and internet connectivity issues. I have done this before on other PC's, but it's been a while and cannot remember if I had this exact issue before and of I did what the resoultion is.

So I boot PC to BIOS, and put the USB with Windows 10 on it as #1. Install starts out fine, I choose the only partition of the 2 available to boot to, and it begins. I follow all directions and it finishes installing files, updates, etc., and then restarts. I've done this 3 times now and it just starts all over again each time.

Do I need to go to BIOS as it's restarting and changing the boot order? I don't recall having to do that before.

Any advice, help is much appreciated. Thank you.

are you wanting to clean install or just update?

if update, you could have run installer inside windows and not got a boot loop... its too late now if its C you copying onto.

the problem is you are making the usb item 1 in boot order... can't you boot off USB without changing boot order? Some boards have boot override.
what motherboard is it?

I figured it out. I just went into BIOS when it was restarting and changed the HDD to #1. I don't remember doing that before, but it's been a while. Thank you for all the info.
