[SOLVED] Stuck on Acer logo after replacing bad HDD with new SATA SSD ?

Hello everybody!

I just removed a bad 1TB HDD from my Acer Aspire 3 (i5) and installed a SATA SSD. After installing the new SSD, the laptop gets stuck at the Acer logo and does not do anything else. It does not go into the BIOS and it does not boot from the USB. It is just stuck in the logo. Nothing else happens.
If I uninstall the SSD, it actually boots and I can boot to a USB. If I put it back, it does the same thing again and just freezes on the Acer logo.

What am I doing wrong or did I buy a bad SSD?
If anybody can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it.

2 possible solutions:

The OP has probably found a solution by now, but I am posting the solution here in case it helps someone else. After opening the back cover of an Acer laptop with a built-in battery it triggers a safety switch that disconnects the internal battery. The laptop has a little pinhole at the back (indicated by a little battery icon) that can be pressed with a paper clip to reset the battery to an "ON" position. Sometimes you need to hold the pinhole button in for several seconds (8 seconds or more), sometimes you have to press it several times, and sometimes you need to wait a couple of minutes after pressing it.

[SOLVED] Just had this problem after installing a Crucial MX500 500Gb SSD (SATA M.2 2280) into my new Acer Aspire E-15 (E5-576-392H). Installed the SSD, wouldn't power on at all. Removed the SSD, powered up fine (making sure each time to reinstall the cover). Turned out I installed the SSD upside down. The label on the drive should be down apparently, and the chipside up (as you look at it in the open bay with the laptop upside down). I re-installed it the correct way, and now it powers up, boots, and works.

Hello and thank you for taking the time!

No solution yet. It is a SATA SSD. I replaced it in the same bay the original HDD came in because it went bad. When I install the new SSD, the laptop gets stuck on the logo screen forever (it won't even boot into BIOS). If I remove it, everything boots just fine, even with the bad HDD (of course it does not get into Windows, but the laptop actually does something and it also boots to my Hiren boot USB fine).

Every result i find is talking about m.2 - it doesn't help that m.2 is just the form factor, there are sata m.2 ssd, and that is all Google is finding for me, when I search for SATA SSD. I did try an advanced google search and excluded M.2 but all I got then was NVME , I would be there all day excluding words

checked if ssd actually works?

newest bios on laptop?

I have googled just about everything I can think of and always come with the same outcome as you. It just does not fit into my little brain that it would not work with that same interface (SATA). I do not have any external enclosures to test, unfortunately. I guess I'm gonna have to wait until monday and go to the shop I bought it from to see if it is actually bad.

By the way, is there a way to update the BIOS via live USB, to see if it is that the problem? I have Hiren Boot USB (HBCD_PE_x64).

Thank you. I'll try that and see if the laptop does not get stuck on the logo and recognizes the SSD. I'll post results.

Thanks so much for the help. It seems it is not compatible after all. I went to the shop and tried another SSD of the same brand. It did not work either. Tried a different brand and it worked just fine. It still does not fit in my mind it is not compatible. I'm including a link about it from Crucial's website.
