After a long time I have this old laptop that has been stuck on the BIOS screen since it crashed and I turned it off and then it got stuck in BIOS screen. I didn't see the HDD on the boot menu so I replaced it with a random HDD and it was out of the BIOS screen but it was windows 7 and my laptop was windows 10. Now there is no HDD in the laptop anymore and if I just order the same HDD will it work again?

Solution
HDD do not come with an operating system installed.

"so I replaced it with a random HDD and it was out of the BIOS screen but it was windows 7" This HDD will work with your PC, you just need to get the correct copy of windows installed with the correct drivers.

The easiest way to get the correct windows on the HDD is to call support for your laptop, explain the HDD failed and you installed a new one and ask for a set of "RECOVERY DISKS" for your laptop. They will include the drivers you need. Sometimes the recovery disks cost $25 or so, depends on the laptop company.

The next easiest way to install win10 on your laptop is from the win7 image you currently have on the laptop. Use the Window install program to overwrite win7 with...

The next easiest way to install win10 on your laptop is from the win7 image you currently have on the laptop. Use the Window install program to overwrite win7 with win10. Windows will remember your laptop and not charge you for the copy of win10. After you do this you have to go to your laptop maker's website and download all the win10 drivers needed. (These drivers come loaded on the recovery image disk, which is why that is easier - but this way is cheaper).

Good luck.
