So I need to update my new computers operating system, and in windows update, it just says checking for updates forever. windows is activated, and its been checking for about half an hour. should i just keep waiting, or try something else?
that happens here from time to time I just give it up and try later on or late at night ? I'm sure if not using 10 you get put on the servers back burner

So i ran the scan, and it says: Windows Update error 0x8024402C not fixed. however, it did fix some registry errors. but, that doesn't fix my problem.
are you sure you don't have a malware program installed or or any program or something that maybe blocking this [I got that benchmark ''catzilla'' that did this removed it and all was well after days of digging things up trying to resolve ] go figure

well on the first scan, it said windows resource protection could not start the repair service. and there wasn't anything wrong with the disk... i guess i can live without updating lol
it maybe just taking a long time let it run overnight as you sleep and see where its at in like 6-8 hrs ? on a fresh install there maybe like 200 updates its got to gather up and list and send to you ??

I tried that, It just gave me an error after a while.
Right, so funny story... after finding out its really hard to play GTA V on 2gb of ram, I shut my computer down and to my surprise, I found my self waiting two and a half hours to install 108 updates. so, auto update sorted it out I guess. I don't know anymore, its like this computer is cursed or something.
no its just how Microsoft is anymore - like I was saying sometimes I get this as you do with normal monthly updates as well then try back later or what ever and then they work as normal . just one of them things now a days
