Stuck on low speed, unsure what's causing it.

Hi!

I've recently moved and when i packed up my things and plugged into the new network my ethernet speed only peaks around 9-10mbit/s, while the provider states it as 50mbit/s.

There are a couple of things to be mentioned:

It seems as my onboard networkcard has recieved some kind of damage during the move.
I've tried 3 different cables, none of them is recieved by the computer as plugged in (little red X over networks in the tray)

I bought a tp-link tg-3468 as a compensation for the "broken" one, plugged it into the PCI:E and it is functioning kinda bad. Also the speed is locked at 10.0Mbps in the Ethernet Status window.

I've reinstalled both my onboard and tg-3468 drives multiple times,
changed the "Speed & Duplex" option back and forth between all values above 10mbit.
(100mbps half/full, auto and 1.0 gbps)

Tried renewing IP adresses, flushed DNS cache and restored my pc to an earlier date using the recovery.

And for some reason my computer can only recieve an internet connection from the first port in the modem, the others just show up as not connected on the computer.
(ISP were unsure about this problem coming from their equipment or my computer, a new modem is on its way)

I've twisted this problem for over a day, and my limit is here, I have no idea how to proceed at this point, and i seek the aid from you lovely people with excellent knowledge and hearts of pure gold.

I will surely be needing to post additional info, just tell me what's needed and ill provide it as soon as i can.

Still see no solution on how to make the adapted recieve the 50mbps...

Solution
The problem is fixed, and in this case it was a defect modem simply.

Thanks for the assistance, and if I don't remove this properly, i hope someone will help me with that also.

This is SOLVED =)

How is your PC connected?

E.g.:

ISP ---> Modem -----> Router ------> PC

Makes and models?

Any patch panels, switches, Ethernet wall jacks?

What Cat level Ethernet cables are you using? Have you swapped those cables out with known working (at speed) Ethernet cables?

Windows 10? Try the built in troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.

Overall, need more information to work with.

ISP-->Modem--> PC

My PC:

Windows 8.1 64bit
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43
Adapter: tp-link tg-3468 (plugged into the top end of the bracket slots, in a PCI.E slot.

Additional information:

Modem: Compal CH7486e (wifi for both 2 and 5ghz)
WallJack: ComHem ADSL (standard for apartment complexes, Tv+Internet in the same jack)
Cable: cat 5.e (all 3 of them, 2.5m, 10m and last around 25m long, all worked before i moved up here so should still be alright...)

I've ran the troubleshooting, diagnostics and I talked a bit with the ISP provider again, and they still have no clue to what is causing this.

For some reason there is a delay when i plug the cable between the PC and modem, it sometimes takes towards two or three minutes before my pc responds. Usually it goes through, but around 1/4 of the attempts it either goes to a red circle with a cross and "no cable connected", or a yellow triangle and claming something like "cant find the adress".

Does the following link present the User Guide for your modem/router?

https://www.comhem.se/asset/rqq4gefrk8ol/oAiEAAVdAs0C2kcua4OcG/a48e9f16718b958ec6927da8c7a5f8fc/manual-compal-h7486e-data.pdf

Verify the settings and the status of the indicator lights.

I would lean towards suspecting a poor connection within the coax wall jack or somewhere upstream from the coax wall jack.

A splitter or some service panel. Try swapping coax cables with known working cables.

Per the User Guide (Page 11):

"You will need a 75-ohm coaxial cable with F-type connectors to connect the CH7486E to the nearest cable outlet. If a TV is connected to the cable outlet, you may need a 5 to 900 MHz RF splitter and two additional coaxial cables to use the TV and the CH7486E."

Splitters can also go bad so try another one if possible.

Yes it does, even though the user manual shows a USB connection, my modem doesn't have one.

It has been done and it is all as it should be.

And it could sure be a weak connection upstreams or even something further away but i had my friend over today to test out the wireless part.
He got the 50mbit as promised via wireless connection.

So that must mean that it leaves any of these as the culprit(s): my computer or the modem.

I've requested a new modem to be sent, because they couldn't figure it out either, perhaps that will help a bit.

Regarding the part with splitting, my connection outlet is already splitten in the wallsocket.
So I'm not using a T splitter or equal equipment.

I'm starting to think it's something on my end, but unsure on what exactly.
I've done multiple things to correct it, (see list above), but still my ethernet status speed is locked on 10.0Mbps. (Gyazo on it below)
