stupid a** suggestion

i have an agp based system (478 processor, ATA hdd, u get the picture)
i am waiting to upgrade to conroe whenever it comes out.
the thing is, my birthday is coming up and my bro always gifts me with pc stuffs.
But this time, i cant think of anything that i can enjoy now and carry it to the next. all i can think of was a sound card (x-fi).

is there anything 'game-wise' i can use right now? anything!!!

How much $ is he willing to spend? You could either keep the $ to upgrade or get a nice monitor with <12ms.

umm, actually since it is a gift, i rather not ask for anthing more than $250.

btw, i read somewhere that samsung is gonna stop producing CRT monitors in june and drop the prices of the LCDs to CRT level! i think its gonna be worth waiting for.
