Stupid post of RAM configuration questions

So there is a stupid thing that happened to me. I had 2 sticks of DDR2 ram (at 400mhz, or 800 if you will), each 2gb, totaling out at 4gb. One of them went bad. So I figured out which one and out of fury snapped it in half and went searching for other sticks I can use.

I stumbled across a 1gb stick that is at 332.5mhz and put it in next to the good 2gb. Gave me 3gb. It turns out that when you put a faster frequency ram stick with a slower one, the computer will take the lower settings. Which is obvious.

I haven't noticed a major performance difference between just 2gb at 400mhz and 3 at 332.5 in benchmarking tests (Well, FluidMark and Cinebench, anyways) and I don't have the experience to know. In your experience, does higher ram always perform better regardless of the frequencies, or would I be better off using the 2gb stick alone?

Many thanks! <3

In now a day's computing better to have more RAM like 3GB+ than having speed of RAMs. When you are exceeding 8GB limit, then you can look to the way of speed. Even a 332.5 (667) RAM can be better at CL timing. So you wouldn't notice that much.
