Stupid Question about moving hard drives to new machine

I searched but could not find an answer to my specific question. I am building a new rig and bought a new SSD to put a Fresh Win10 install on it. I have a few hard drives from my old machine I want to transfer to the new one. These old drives do not have windows installed they just hold data, games/movies etc. Can I just move them into the new rig or will they have to be formatted/partitioned again to be recognized?

Secondary drives are generally no problem.
If there are actual applications on those drives, they probably won't work. Personal data/movies is no problem.
