stupid question?

I have never re-formatted a hard drive much less partitoned one. I am installing a brand new hard drive. I understand that it has to be fomatted, but when it comes to partitions i am a little confused. I just want one c drive. Now would i want 1 partion or zero partitions. i am just not sure. Not sure of the steps really.

One partition-use Fdisk (use a 98 boot floppy and type in "fdisk" at the A:\>), it's pretty self explanitory.

Just use FDISK as Crashman said, and use 100% of the space available to make that one active C: partition.
