Stupid (?) Terrestrials Question...

Given that:

1) While Terrestrial Exalted inherit their power, elemental aspects
are not necessarily inherited (so a Wood aspect could have many
children, of all the aspects but Wood);

2) The blood of the Threshold is so thick with the seed of the
Dragon-Blooded (to use a colorful phrase from _Outcastes_) that
spontaneous erupt--er, exaltations are somewhat common;

3) Each directional region is dominated by the elemental essence of
the four Elemental Poles;

(And if any of these premises are incorrect, then I'm sure someone
will be more than willing to step up and say so...^^)

Can it be the case that proximity to the Elemental Poles predisposes
one to Exalt with a certain affinity? So, while there are still many
Outcastes of varying aspects in the West, a noticible majority will be
Water aspected?

Even if not, this could be an interesting chronicle: A group of
Dynastic Savants travelling the Threshold, attempting a census to
confirm their theory. Good way to luck into some treasure or fall into
a conspiracy...

I was just looking for a clarify on this, since I was under the impression
that elemental affinities were one of those things that were kinda obvious
from birth.

i don't remember if this has been clarified.
i think you can exalt in any aspect you inherit. if your father is
earth and your mother is wood, both with mixed heritages, you could
exalt as any aspect, but the most likely by far will be earth and
wood. if your lineage is entirely composed of fire aspected DB, you
will exalt only as a fire aspect. i dunno if having elemental blood
could screw this...

only in a few places. and by common, you mean "one person in five
thousand". elsewhere it can be as scarce as "one person in twenty
thousand" or worse.
then there are places like lookshy, with one db in one hudred people,
realm controlled satrapies like an-teng, with many dynastic bastards,
and gathering places for outcaste like gem...

it seem the case...

it doesn't seem so. but, i think that elemental aspected DB tend to
gather around their elemental pole.

you are right, it's really interesting. in fact, i'm going to steal it
😀

Cool plot seed, but I wouldn't make it canon. So far, it seems that
elemental affinity has been established from birth - looking through AB
Earth and AB Air, I don't know if the character's personalities are formed
by their affinity or vice -versa, but all of them have been "Typical
[Elementals]" since birth, and then exalt 10+ years later. And, you know,
they're all in the Realm, which means the major predisposition should be in
aspecting to Earth ('cause the Elemental Pole of Earth is right there, after
all), and I don't think there was any evidence to suggest that Earth aspects
outnumber the others in the Dynasty.

The fact that the houses were initially associated with certain
aspects indicates that if a Wood marries a Wood the result will
probably be a Wood. Exogamy has made things more unpredictable.
