Hello , I'm new in here and already in 775-trouble !

My MB is ASUS P5GDC-V deluxe and the CPU is 530J (3,0 GHz/800 FSB) and
1 GB Corsair Pro PC3200XL . Trying to install a XP Professional SP1 on
a Raptor74GB (+ 3 other SATA MAXTOR NCQ) , but XP says it cannot detect
any harddiscs ...?!

I´ve disabled the ITE8212F-controller and enabled AHCI for the
SATA-discs and I´m installing from ASUS DVD-616E on the primary
IDE-slot .

BTW :
Is there no way to get XP Pro SP1 to read the drivers from the
DVD-drive or my other floppydrive (a USB Samsung) ???

Did you give it any drivers? You likely will need to, and as far as I
know, unless you create a custom slipstreamed Windows install CD which
includes the drivers, it will only read the drivers from a normal floppy
drive (not USB)..

There is nothing stupid with either XP or Asus in this case. You have to
provide sata drivers on a floppy for XP.

Well, I was going to mention an omission in the subject list of stupid
entities, but you seem to have that covered 😉

The connection between the keyboard and seat sounds faulty ;-)

You need to hit F6 at the first part of the XP installation. XP will then
ask you for the drivers for the sata. You will need them on a floppy disk.
They are on the motherboard cd.
