Ryzen5 3600x, asus rog x570 f motherboard, evga rtx 2080, 16 gb corsair rgb pro 3200, 1tb m.2 nvme, 500gb ssd, 850w corsair psu, evga 360 clc (aio), gpu hybrid cooling kit from evga

Built and overclocked slightly, no problems execpt after gaming straight for like 2+ hours... It "stutters" like lag but in everything (even in racing games) even tho I'm not playing "online". I've tried a fair amount of fixes, to no avail... From reinstalling windows, reinstalling games, removing overclocks putting defaults on components... etc

The only fix (and this isn't like a life ending problem, more just a nuance) i have found that works is literally just shutting down the comp for a bit, let it sit for a minute, then start back up. After these resets, it goes away.

Like mentioned, this "issue" isn't by any means damning... Just annoying. What's causing this and how can i fix it?

Solution
yeah, thats the point. to get it the low as possibile so you can get the lowest latency possibile, its explained in the video about why 0.5ms timer its the best.
Oh my god, dude i think that actually worked... Holy sh!t. Wow, thanks for the tip. Damn, of all the "product support" b.s. out there people on this forum are way better. Thanks man, ive been f'in around all day (literally) playin f1 and modern warfare with no problems.

Temps for the cpu and gpu are both low 60s high 50s steady when under load... I monitor those on a second screen mounted in my case. Could it be ram temperatures? I don't really monitor those temps, nor the vrms on the motherboard but checking hwinfo during the "stuttering" there aren't really any sensors which "max" temperatures are out of reason

did you try ISLC? a tool that is forcing 0.5 ms timer in windows to reduce input lag/increase fps and remove stutters + it removes the standby memory which is the cause of stuttering in windows 10. try it

islc? i am not at all familiar... what is that
here's a better explanation.

you should also tweak your OS to be more responsive and to reduce input lag.

go into device manager -> system devices -> rightclick on "High precision event timer" and click disable.

open CMD as admin. type in these following commands.

bcdedit /set useplatformclock No (forces HPET off, known for causing input lag and DPC latency + stutters)
bcdedit /set useplatformtick Yes (this is the command that allows you to get an even timer of 0.5 with the tool i mentioned above, giving you a smooth imagine and removing input lag)
bcdedit /set disabledynamictick Yes (disables power savings feauture from the OS making your mouse snappier and more responsive, google for more info)

You can google each one of them for a better explanation, but trust me it will make your OS and mouse movement more accurate and snappier while also improving your FPS.

Here's an explanation for HPET and why it should be disabled on any gaming PC:

watching those vids and reading a bit at the same time, doing that makes sense.... thanks..
i am kinda hopeful that will solve whats going on, now to replicate the "problem" and monitor temps a little more closely and see what ram usage is at.

just make sure to disable HPET from device manager and do what the steps above tell you and make sure you don't miss any commands or put the wrong value in, so just copy paste them to be sure.

RESTART after putting the 3 commands into CMD.

After that download the tool from here: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1256&sid=87e930c44af6b40d16f2712ddd30551a

check enable custom timer resolution, put 0.05 in the bracket and click Start. Make sure the current timer resolution is the same as the maximum timer resolution (which is 0.5ms) Test your games and post results.

change the value from 1.0 to .05? is that what you mean? cause thats a pretty drastic change

glad i could be of help. if you're looking to further optimize your PC for gaming, check out an app called Latencymon and test to see your system latency. You can then use a tool called MSI-utility_v2 (http://www.mediafire.com/file/2kkkvko7e75opce/MSI_util_v2.zip/file ) which puts your drivers (audio and GPU drivers to be exact) into MSI mode. what this does is making sure you motherboard is communicating with the drivers asap granting you the lowest delay possibile therefore minimizing your input lag and making your system even more responsive while it may also give you a small frame boost. Another useful way of lowering your DPC latency is disabling all cpu power savings in the bios (C-states,Turbo mode,EIST etc.) it also made my games smoother and removed stuttering.

Here's a more in depth BIOS optimization guide if you're interested in checking it out, it really does make a difference. https://www.overclock.net/forum/6-i...os-optimization-guide-modern-pc-hardware.html
