Stuttering in games

Does anyone know what causes games to stutter. I've recently built a pc for my son, but nearly every game has stutter issues I'm at my wits end trying to solve this, I've updated every driver possible but still nothing seems to fix the problem.
Pc specs:
Asus z97 maximus hero v11
I7 4790k cpu
Asus gtx970
8gb corsair vengance ram
Corsair 850rm psu
Corsair h100i water cooled cpu
500gb western digital hdd
Any help on this would be much appreciated

Hi please not if these are new games like far cry 4 or bf4 than these issues are common I would try uninstalling the drivers with DDU driver uninstaller follow the intrustctions on it don't update when it asks go to safemode when it says so than click uninstall and restart and after that download latest drivers

Those games stutter on my pc also its just how the games are optimized give far cry 4 sometimes for the new update and itll fix those issues while the others really cant do anything

These are known issues with these games. Did you uninstall before updating the drivers. Fragments of previous driver causes stutters too.
