So one day my newly built PC starts stuttering in games (and YouTube videos). Singleplayer too, mind you. Anyway, this has been going on for a long time and I've looked all over for solutions but all was in vain. There was one day when my PC started working properly again, but then it reverted to it's previous form of stupidity.
Okay, to describe the symptoms in more detail...
(Just imagine stuttering lag to begin with)
- Minecraft was affected (singleplayer and multiplayer), making me unable to build anything at all, partly because when I right (or left) click two to three blocks are placed instead of just one.
- DiRT 3: around 2-5FPS singleplayer, even though it ran smoothly on max settings before. Unplayable (stuttering here too).
- YouTube videos are affected by the stutter. Audio seems fine but now it's affecting audio sometimes, and permanently in some games, e.g., War of the Roses.
- Downloaded "The Expendabros", which was also infected... Damn!
All drivers are up to date, and I've scanned multiple times using different software.
What I think could be causing this is the moderate build up of dust, caused by the lack of a dust filter in the top of this case. This enables dust to just fall in.
