stuttering when playing far cry 5

i've been getting stuttering all over the place when playing far cry 5, and really i have no clue what it could be because i'm way above recommended system requirements, the only thing i can think of is my hdd is too slow, i have no clue what the speeds are tho, if someone can say if it is the hdd it would be appreciated, and let me know what hdd i should get.

To OP - I play Far Cry 5 with a hdd and it causes stuttering when loading textures. I saw the biggest dip in the Far Cry 5 in-game benchmark when the camera turned around and the hdd light was constant red. The worst stutter though is when picking up stuff, I don't know why, maybe it is a combination of the Hdd and the internet connection, tha action is saved both to hdd and cloud.

agreed i notice a lot of stutter when picking up items, but i get alot during normal gameplay aswell

In general, your beast rig is hugely bottlenecked by the slow hdd, especially on recent AAA games. Why didn't you installed the game on your ssd?

Well move the game to your ssd and see if that corrects the problem. Honestly once a game is loaded in it should play smoothly especially with your specs. Is your hd full, and when was the last time you cleaned it and or defragmented it? Honestly ssd prices have tumbled and it dosnt make any sense to buy hd's anymore.

In general, your beast rig is hugely bottlenecked by the slow hdd, especially on recent AAA games. Why didn't you installed the game on your ssd?

Because the main directory for steam downloads was on my hdd, and since other games didn't have a noticable effect like that i thought far cry 5 would be fine on an hdd

how are you connecting the 1080ti to the screen if its not via displayport then I suggest you try that.

I think you already know this, but you can install games on other drives as well. Check the hdd minimum fps with the benchmark, then install the game on the ssd and check the min fps again to see if if there is an improvement. Remember to backup the saves first if the cloud doesn't do that. hdd can't keep up with many recent games on a high end rig.
