So I recently upgraded my GPU from a GTX 970 to a GTX 1080 and now my pc stuttering while watching youtube videos on chrome and while gaming, I thought that the GPU might've been broken so i got another 1080 and it still happens. I also tried to update the bios/ got new ram and installed an SSD and the temperatures dont go above 70 on both my cpu and GPU and i also got myself a new motherboard and reset windows after that but to no avail

I also got some footage of me playing Rainbow Six Siege whilst stuttering. Its not that common but my pc is brand new and id like it tow work flawlessly

Please help me i am at my wits end.

SPECS
GPU: MSI GTX 1080 gaming X
RAM: Gskill Trident Z RGB 16gb DDR4
STORAGE: Samsung 860 1tb SSD
CPU: I7 7700k @4.2ghz (Stock)
MOBO: MSI Z270 Carbon PRO
PSU: Be Quiet Straight power 600

How much ram do you have.

You are doing a lot at the one time. The 7700k is a decent processor and all, but if your gaming at high res, and decent settings, with those other tasks, yes you might be maxing the CPU. Run HWmon and check CPU usage while you are doing all this. If your CPU is pegged at 100% on all cores, FPS may suffer.

On the ram thing if you have only 8gb you're most likely maxing out. Chrome uses as much as 200-300mb per tab, youtube prob the same, and then hardware allocation and gaming requirements from system ram would push 8gb to the brink.

edit: apologies, I can see the CPU usage in the video clip. Hmmm. Ram question is more relevant now :)

First, remember that if the system worked before and the only change was the graphics card then your issue is not going to be the motherboard or system memory etc.

It's going to be the new card or the software (drivers) related to the card or some other weird software glitch.

The first thing I'd try is this:
1) run DDU to cleanup video drivers, then
2) install latest NVidia drivers

https://www.geforce.com/drivers

I don't see any drops in the video but it's probably more obvious to you when playing.

i have 16gb of DDR4 ram

Google Chrome stuttering... hard to say but it's obviously a software issue. If DDU doesn't solve that I suggest doing a reset of Chrome

(no need to do COOKIES etc if you can avoid those)

Some potential workarounds: https://blog.fonepaw.com/fix-choppy-video-on-chrome.html

Also try copy/paste the same URL in Youtube over to the MS EDGE browser to see if the problem exists. If not it's obviously a Chrome-specific software issue.

I tried this but to no avail unfortunately, any other ideas?

Okay. That's good. Rules out that so. Can't disagree with photonboy. Try those fixes too.

CPU/GPU temps look okay, nothing is maxed out, so it's likely it a software issue as he has said.

It is every single game that I play, from stardew valley to rainbow six siege to the witcher 3
and yes i have also tried to verify the file integrity :/

What about disk usage? Any unusual activity?

i dont actually know, is there any good way to monitor disk usage while i'm playing?

You can try the windows performance tab. Ctrl+Alt+Del, Task manager, Performance tab. Click on disk usage. Then alt-tab out of the game to see usage. There are other programs to monitor, but that will do for the purpose.

Also worth cleaning up the disk, and or using a utility from the manufacturer to check for disk health. Again there are other programs to use for that you can find with a quick search.

Nope everything is normal, i am however getting some errors and warnings in windows Event viewer, Take a look

hmmm. I'm outta ideas! Sorry 🙁 Everything looks as it should. Apart from those errors, but looking at them, they seem random enough. Probably nothing to be concerned about.

The only other thing to suggest as a last resort is re-installing windows. If you have your games on the SSD as well as the OS, that's a bummer as you have to download everything again!

Yeap unfortunately i only have the SSD right now and i've tried reinstalling windows many times :/
Thanks for the help anyway i think il go to a specialist and let somebody repair it for me :/

So, did you ever resolve this? If you did, tell us the solution if not, well, that's too bad. Still, I hope someone will turn you on to the solution.
I had a stutter issue I resolved recently but I don't know if it'll work on your Nvidia rig. I own an AMD Vega 64. It might work with your Nvidia card. This fix resolved issues with Battlefield 3, 4, 5, World War 3, Payday 2. It didn't work for Call of Duty Ghost, AW, WW2.
I went into my games to Options> Video> V-sync (vertical-sync) in the game and turned it off. That cured my horroible stutter stepping. Instantly fluid. Also turned off the AMD FreeSync. Found I didn't really need it. Try turning off Nvidia Gsync in your Nvidia settings.
That was my simple fix.
But there's been a ram issue in games by a fraction of a second you may try to correct. The game I had bad stutter stepping was Call of Duty WW2, so I was obliged to ask the question in Discussions, "How did you fix the stutter?" This is the answer I received.
'Go into the Folder "Steam/steamapps/common/Call of DutyWWII/player2/user_config_mp config'. Find setar_VideoMemoryScale '1' and change it to setar_VideoMemeoryScale '0.8'.' Restart game.
It would require you to do this for all your Steam games. It may also depend on the VRAM of your graphics card. If it doesn't work, change this setting back to '1'.
Battlefield had a problem with Browsers once. I noticed some browsers are faster and better that others. Internet Explorer was absolutely horrible and like to crash. Try changing your browser you use for your games. Ask the game forums what browser gamers are using.
It'll be great if someone is able to help you find a fix because it's an issue that's plagued thousands of gamers. Tell us if find a solution.
Thanks and hope this helps.
(And to you Nvidia owners, I am not an AMD fanboy. The 144mhz monitor I bought just happened to be a freesync monitor).
Oh, by the way, if you do any of this, make sure you 'Reset', 'Reset Game' or 'Default', 'Set to Default' your games. Steam likes to remember your game settings which is a good thing. It helps to have your video, audio and control settings if you choose to repair, reinstall, uninstall/reinstall your games -but sometimes it'll remember junk like a 'crash' and reprogram a crash back into the game. I know it sounds bazaar and I wouldn't doubt it may remember stutter stepping, too. Reset or Set to Default should help clear it. Just remember to write down your game settings as they may be gone.
Hope this helps.
