hi i have a amd fx 6300 and a msi 760 gma p34fx and i want a cpu cooler less than 20$ on amazon or newegg that will allow me to overclock to 4.1ghz

I would pick the Cooler Master TX3 (it's actually below 20 right now), and it will perform better than the Zalman, I think.

I think so, it has a good and efficient design (direct copper heatpipe contact so it will do just right, even if larger more expensive coolers outperform it), just be sure that it is seated correctly and with correct thermal paste application (I prefer to spread the paste with a plastic card or so, and any irregularities will be solved when placing the heatsink). Be sure to check temps before and after OC to see the difference. Also, good case airflow always helps.

spreading the thermal paste creates air bubbles so just a pea size dot in the middle should be enogh

I agree, but that can be avoided if you are very careful , but the pea method tends to leave some areas of the cpu not covered (also true for line model). So I don't know which is best. Also depends on the cpu size (socket).
