Hi,
I was recently commissioned by my parents to research a decent sub300 desktop for my brother. Up till recently, he was using a machine I had built from scavenged parts.

My only beef with boxed units is that they're no fun. I was hoping it would be possible to build a decent system under the budget.

Requirements:
Excellent CPU
No special Graphics card needed (He plays minecrafet at the most, and needs it for typing and light photoshop)
Decent amount of ram to run Win7
Decent, sturdy case,
Appropriate power unit.

Does anyone have any builds they can redommend, if so, please post.

Thanks

this would come to around 290$ if you can reuse the hard drive/DVD rom if not you can down the ram to 4GB and down the APU to a A8 and probably get a 50$ hard drive.

Do you have a Windows copy? If you dont, it will be hard to build a machine with just 200 bucks and a prebuild one would be your only option.

With 300 bucks a QuadCore APU will be plenty.

Total: $330...

Its $30 over the budget, but hey! that will be a pretty good machine and will be upgradeable. Also if it is for you little brother, i guess you can give him 30 bucks. just saying 😛 !

+1 for build. And will be hard if you dont have OS
