Subtitle drag 'n drop for VLC stopped working

So I wasn't really sure which category to put this in. A few months ago, I was able to drag a subtitle file onto VLC while a video was playing, instead of right-clicking and adding a subtitle file manually. But it stopped working for some reason. Now, every time I would try to drag a subtitle file onto VLC, it would give me this icon:

My Windows is updated (Windows 10, 64-bit), and VLC is updated to the latest version, too. I tried reinstalling numerous times and have tried older versions of VLC, but result stays the same.

Solution
Do subtitles appear if instead of dragging, you open the subtitle file while playing the video?

I never tried dragging the file.
What I do is rename the subtitle file the same name as the video file and place it in the same folder as the movie.
That way subtitles automatically appear when I play the video.

I ended up going through most of the older versions of VLC, and I found out that version 2.8 works with the drag and drop feature. I'm not really sure why it doesn't work on the updated versions, but I guess I'll just use that one for now.

They might have removed the feature.
