I have two speakers and a subwoofer connected to my PC's rear audio ports. Been working just fine since 2022 and was working today till I turned them on and off.

After I turned the speakers+subwoofer back on, the subwoofer didn't work anymore. I didn't move my speakers or subwoofer at all. I only turned it off so that I could use my headphones (which are plugged into the front). After I turned them back on, the subwoofer had no sound.

I tried various things.
  • Checked all the connections. Seems fine.
  • Plugging them into the front ports work for the speakers, but the subwoofer still wouldn't work. Plugged them into a laptop and same thing.
  • Reinstalled mobo's audio drivers. Didn't solve the problem.
Tried plugging the speakers back into the rear ports and now I have no sound at all from the rear ports. I plugged some earbuds into the rear and I have no sound still. I have sound from the front ports with the earbuds and speakers still (no sound from subwoofer).

Are my rear audio ports AND my subwoofer busted now??? Is there any other way to confirm this besides what I've already tried?

Could my subwoofer have damaged my rear audio ports? I wasn't jamming the jacks into the ports either, so I'm very confused.

Speakers/subwoofer: Logitech Z533
Mobo: B450 Gaming Pro Carbon Max Wifi

Thanks

Right click the small speaker icon usually located in the lower right screen corner.

A menu should apear with two or three audio related choices.

Start with "Troubleshoot sound problems". The troubleshooter may find and fix something.

Failing that then work through the other menu choices.

Each choice leads to any number of windows, tabs, and properties.

Explore first but do not make any immediate changes. Make notes of any configuration settings that are not as expected or recognized.

Then go back and reconfigure as applicable and appropriate. Change only one thing at a time being sure to write down what was changed, where it was changed along with the original and new values. Just in case you need to undo some change.

Remember to "Save", "Okay", or otherwise approve (if necessary) any changes made. Sometimes the necessary button is not immediately visible so be sure to scroll down to the bottom of all windows.

Hopefully, Windows has gotten just a bit confused about the audio setup and configuration.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The troubleshooter came up with nothing. Said it didn't any issues.

I was testing the different configurations in the Realtek Audio Console that comes with my mobo, which also came up with nothing.

But what I did find (using my default settings), is that the subwoofer works SOMETIMES. It literally only works when I "let it rest".

As in, I'll play a song, and the subwoofer and bass will be there. But after around 10 seconds, it disappears. If I turn the speakers for another minute or so and then play it again, the subwoofer and bass are back, and then it disappears again after 10 seconds. And the cycle repeats.
Does this mean my subwoofer's internal electronics are broken?

Also, regarding my rear audio ports not working. This is still unsolved. Nothing I did would produce any sound from any of the ports... Is it time to get a new mobo? Unfortunately, my warranty is expired for both the speakers and the mobo 🙁

The rear audio ports will not work with any sort of speakers, headsets, headphones, etc. - correct?

= = = =

Subwoofer works.....

Gets warm, something expands and either shorts out or loses connection completely.

Turn off, cools, contracts, then works again.

Cycle repeats.

Combining the the problem(s) with the subwoofer and the rear audio ports my thought is that something failed and caused damages to both.

Get the subwoofer repaired first. An honest repair shop should be able to troubleshoot the internal components.
