Hi, I'm thinking about getting an Asus P5W DH or possibly P5B Deluxe motherboard for my new system.
- I'm wondering if anyone has successfully setup 2 separate RAIDs with either of these boards?
I'm thinking about setting up two RAID 1 setups. One with a couple smallish drives for my OS & applications. And one with a couple 500GB drives for my media/data.
- Anyone know which controllers and/or connectors to use with these to get good performance and stability?
- Is running 2 separate RAIDS on 2 separate controllers (Intel ICH7r plus Jmicron or Silicon Image) going to be buggy or take a hit on performance?
- Any opinions about setting up a small RAID 0 for swap & temp files w/ Intel Matrix RAID on the ICH7 chipset?
Thanks a lot. I know in 'theory' this should be pretty good performing and very safe for data. But I've also heard stories about bugginess and issues with certain RAID controllers.
