Hello, I am having an issue whenever I load into a match of league my CPU sky rockets to 90% to 100% and getting around 5-10fps. I have played on this laptop for a few months now and was fine and I was getting around 30-40fps on medium settings. I have tried switching it to all very low settings and I get no difference, maybe like a gain of 2fps.
I have an i5-5200u with 2.2 ghz and 8GB of ram, running on Windows 8 Enterprise.
I have tried multiple things to try and resolve this issue:
Uninstalling and reinstalling League of Legends twice. (One quick uninstall, One making sure all files are deleted)
Running Malwarebytes scanning for viruses. (First time found a few pups, but got rid of them all, scanned a couple more times to be sure)
Running CCleaner and Defraggler to clear up space in case of that being the issue.
Getting rid of any unwanted search engines on my google chrome. ( I have no other browsers installed)
I ran an intel driver update plugin, only found one that had to do with wireless network. (Graphic drivers are all updated)
Using the repair option on the League of Legends sign in screen.
Uninstalled unwanted programs to free up more space. (I have plenty of space free now)
I used a program called speccy to see if my CPU was overheating, it seems fine. (At the highest it went around 70c, which seems fine for this processor) Rebooted my system through this process to make sure all the things I changed are final.
Made sure all programs were closed out and it was just league of legends running and still took up 90% of cpu.
Checked the main computer settings/power settings for performance. (All correctly selected)
When I launch into a game my fan gets a little louder, which it doesn't normally. Though i think this is because the CPU spikes to 100%, not because its warm. The other thing is that when I go into my graphics settings I only have one resolution option and its 1024x768. I don't know if this could hint towards what the issue is. Another thing is my roommate has the exact laptop as me and his still runs just fine.
At this point I don't know what else to try or what the issue could be other than a hardware issue, even though it seems fine. Any idea what would cause this, or what I can do? I feel like I've tried everything I can do at this point, I am going to try and reinstall my Windows 8 because I couldn't upgrade to Windows 10, because Windows 8 enterprise wouldn't allow me to upgrade to 10. (Any idea why that is? That could help me as well). I can't do it right now because I don't have a usb or recovery disk. When i go into the recovery options it gives me an error about not having the recover environment and requires that I have the usb or recovery disk.
Thanks for reading, hope you can help. Any input will be appreciated.
I posted this on the league site first, but I came here as well because I feel like it may be a hardware issue. If I need to provide more information, please inform me.
