Monitor has been working fine for 4 years fine, went to make dinner then came back to see these lines on my monitor..Tried different plugs, and used the monitor on a different computer..Still had the lines..Also tried an older monitor on current PC to make sure it wasn't the vid card. And the screen was fine

Someone on a forum was saying that leaving my speakers beside/infront of my monitor is bad for it..Will that make them fail faster?
[edit] Also turned the "failing" monitor on without being connected to the PC and it still had the lines

1) bad monitor for sure.
I'm guessing it's a 2560x1440 or higher monitor that's at least a few years old. My Dell U2711 had the same issue and the reason was that there is probably two sections in the electronics (meant individually to handle lower resolution) that normally processes the video signal joined together and that one of them failed thus one side of the screen is getting scrambled data.

2) EMF or magnetic interference causing premature monitor failure would be insignificant... think about it, most people have speakers next to their desktop monitors and how many monitors have failed due to this?

HDTV's have speakers built in or soundbars added on. I've NEVER EVEN HEARD of an issue with this.

Maybe it's a reference to magnetic issues with CRT (tube) monitors?

It's just weird that it happened so.
sudden, picking up a new one today.is the failing lights due to the light bar at the top of the screen? Also plan on moving my speakers a bit from the monitor, see if that helps or not.
