Sudden high Memory (80-90%) when playing games

This problem has only appeared recently, FPS drops to around 15 from above 60
SPECs:
GTX 1060 3G
Ryzen 1600
2x4gb RAM
Mobo ab350

Second, 8GB RAM is pretty much at the limit today.

Civ 6, TW: Rome 2/Attila and Doom (playing on high to ultra with some settings lowered) is where I've had the most problems.
I don't run much in the background other than Spotify and sometimes Chrome.
These frame drops have only recently appeared.

16gb of ram is preferable for gaming. 3gb GPU is also a factor so more ram would help

Yeah I might buy more RAM soon but I still don't understand why the frame drops have popped up recently.
