Sudden high ping *help*

Ping went very high earlier up until 30minutes ago when I unplugged Ethernet connection and put it back in. now my 30 minutes are up and my ping has shot up again. Using pingtest on my laptop (through wireless) has no problems whatsoever the only similar result is the 0% packet loss. Could it be the Ethernet cable whats the problem? or the plug-in? or....

Have you tried disconnecting both ends and trying them again?

Do you have a second ethernet cord for a quick test?
