Hello, guys! My PC's specs are a GTX 960 2g GPU, an H97 Pro Gaming Mobo, 16 GB of Ram, and 1 TB HDD. For many months, I've been playing PUBG and Dota 2 without any problems. My stable FPS for DotA 2 sits at 120 and for PUBG it's at around 60-80 FPS. I didn't change any of the settings, nor did I update my drivers, but the very next day I noticed that my PC's overall performance started to deteriorate. From the slightly laggy browser to the massive FPS drops, I'm clueless why it all happened. As of now, my FPS on DotA 2 is at 60 and on PUBG it's at around 10-30 FPS. I'm clueless why it suddenly dropped like that when I didn't change anything in the first place. Does anyone have any idea what happened?

I scanned with Malwarebytes and Zemana but all I got was 2 PUPs on Malwarebytes that I quarantined and on Zemana I only got two potentially unwanted changes that I already cleaned. My temp is okay, sitting at around the average of 35-40 degrees celsius. My last resort is reformatting my PC, as it was the solution when I last encountered this kind of problem.

I just wanted to chime in and let you know that you aren't alone. I've been having similar issues for going on 2 weeks now. One day, everything worked perfectly; the next, stutter and lagging in all games and videos. I don't know if what is causing your issue is the same as what's causing mine, but so far, I've had 0 luck. I even brought my pc to a 5 star rated (on Yelp) PC repair shop and they couldn't figure it out...Btw, get ready to be asked if you've "checked the temps, updated drivers, and scanned with malware bytes" about a million times. This seems to be the extent of people's "suggestions" when it comes to this issue. I have an i7 6700K cpu and an MSI Z170A M7 Gaming mobo with 8gb RAM. I even went as far as to do a clean install of Windows 10 on a brand new SSD and replaced my gpu with a GTX 1060 6gb and the problem still persists. All temps and usages of each piece of hardware is normal. I've done everything I can possibly think of, and nothing works. I hope you're able to get some actual advice, because so far, I've had none come my way.

Hello! I think it's some kind of hardcore malware that ruined how my PC works. I noticed that my GPU doesn't work properly that time (the fans don't become active if I turn on a video game, since it usually turns on during normal days) and it had a very high temperature. I solved the problem by reformatting my PC. My FPS finally became okay and the temperatures are back to normal. My theory is that the malware ruined the CPU's temps and ruined its ability to properly recognize hardware.

You seem to be having a GPU problem first and a virus/malware problem second. Some malware (according to my stepdad) can cause your antivirus/antimalware software to not see it. If there was a virus on there or some malware, or maybe it was something you downloaded, try watching these videos and maybe it will help:

Those may help.

Otherwise, if all else fails, just build yourself a new budget PC. Something that can game. Games I hear you play, Ryzen 3 2200G with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB mechanical hard drive (7200RPM) would work great for your needs.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm still in the same boat; lagging, stuttering, etc. No one has bothered to lend a hand on the thread I posted, and I see the same is mostly true here.

I think a solution to all of you guys would be to reformat the system. If that works and the next day the PC won't do much or if it doesn't work at all, there's a chance that the GPU may be the culprit. RAM might also be one of the issues. If not, chances are it's malware and viruses.
