hey hows it going..
Ill start with the system specs,
i5 6600K,
16gb hyperx ddr4 2133mhz
asus z170i pro ITX
corsair 650w
galax 1060 6gb,
500gb ssd, 2x 2tb hdd,
Corsair 380T case.

Was fine one day the next it wont post. fans turn on, cpu cooler pump works, no usb output, no video. I went through everything on the stickied post n no success. Obviously i checked every connection. tried with and without gpu, tried changing power supply to 850w corsair from 650w. no change.
The Led on the motherboard for DRAM (read manual) is lit solid red, there is no memOK button. Ive left the board overnight with no battery and have tried to reset cmos.
I tried both ram in single slots etc upward of 10 times. I have purchased brand new modules of hyper x 2400mhz to replace old ones. Still same issue.

I have purchased a duplicate z170i motherboard. swapped my cpu and everything into it. the same issue persists. note ive got it outside the case now on the box with the bare essentials to POST and re tried most troubleshooting to no success.

I'm gonna have to presume i need a replacement cpu. I don't want to purchase one until Ive exhausted every route, so mainly just wondering if there's anything I could have missed?
thanks yo,

ps. anyone got an i7 6700k they wanna sell posted to Aus. preferably not more than 300aud

So just to be clear, you have the motherboard outside the case with the CPU (and i assume a fan cooler) and 1 stick of RAM, but no video card or drives connected and it will not post?
You cleared the CMOS with the computer unplugged?
yup, only have the mboard, cpu and a h100i, tried without and with ram, all 4 sticks i have available i tried individually and together. tried with gpu and without while on the box, and tried both psu i have access to, no drives connected right now.
still powers pump, gpu fans and motherboard standby led, then when i jump the power switch the DRam led comes on and stays on. its disconnected from all power while im at work right now and the little battery is disconnected. will try clear again by jumping pins later.
pretty stumped

Do you know which BIOS revision your motherboard has? There has been 22 BIOS updates released for this motherboard and most of them were issued to "Improve system stability".
wouldn't have a clue, ive not manually updated it since owning, and the replacement I bought on ebay could be anything, cant get either to the bios screen

Don´t use the packaging box underneath the motherboard, this could be conductive and short some circuits of the motherboard

take a picture of your build, maybe we can see something obvious (upload to imgur.com or similar and post the link)

check the CPU socket of the motherboard for bent pins

checked the sockets of both motherboards and the cpu looks fine too.
also gpu is def powered by a 6 pin, might not be visible
