Hello all, this has been a problem for me and other residents for quite some time now. To start, I live in a city where we get electricity through hydroelectricity/hydroplants. Now the problem is, the company managing our electricity suddenly cuts off power and then immediately turns it back after a few seconds. This happens at least 2 times a day. I have been advised by a friend of mine to get an Uninterruptible Power Supply and I've heard that it's quite costly, so my question is what else can I do in order to avoid/minimize the damage as well as to protect my PC until I can get a UPS?

Good day.

well, a good psu with long enough holdup time only can handle electricity brownout for less than one second.

And you said that electricity cut of for a few second..so, ups is the only way to solve your problem.

Actually, that's not too expensive, an good ups for single computer will cost you around $100..
