Suddenly all SATA [NOT DETECTED]

I was using my computer just fine, then all of a sudden it just froze. I restarted and came to a black screen reading "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot Device and Press Any Key."

I went into BIOS to try and assess the situation, turns out all my SATA drives (1 - 6) read as [NOT DETECTED].
Both my hard drives don't work, and my disk drive also doesn't work.

In BIOS/cmos check if you have a disabled SATA controller! You can as well try to set BIOS back to defaults but it really looks like your controller (on the motherboard) failed.

I checked, and the SATA controller is still enabled. I tried setting BIOS to defaults and it didn't help.

I had a similar situation, but in my case it turned out to be SATA ports 1 and 2 that would intermittently stop showing drives. I switched to 3 and 4 and all has been working fine. I would say that your controller on the MB is bad. At first I thought my HD was failing until I realized that the new one disappeared too. Finally after seeing that my third drive never disappeared I put two and two together and figured it out.

Yep looks like the SATA controller failed.

Changing the ports didn't change anything. Guess I will be replacing the SATA controller

Which means you will have to exchange your motherboard! Hope it is still under warranty!
