About a week ago, my pc could not play 1080p60 videos without a pause in video and audio every second or so. While it is not the most high end (Core 2 Quad and gtx 750 ti) It used to play the videos perfectly fine, even 1440p was no problem (not that I have the screen res for it). I have tried turning off hardware acceleration but that does not seem to do the trick....

Solution
so its youtube
vp9 is hevc codec, which is supported on GPUs since gtx 950 or better
your GPU doesnt know how to work with it, so CPU is decoding it, which is slower and takes too much cpu power

80% cpu usage means literally nothing at all
cpu temperature, clock, ram speed/timings and web brwser about:config settings could impact performance here

every video?
whats your cpu/gpu usage?
what codec are u using?
Every video is not running well at 1080p60, 720p60 is fine though.

cpu around 70-80%
gpu around 6-7%

I just copied and pasted the codec from stats for nerds menu, I dont know if this helps :

vp09.00.51.08.01.01.01.01.00 (303) / opus (251)
