Suddenly no display at all from graphic card, only on my system

My specs are
Cpu: i5-3570k
Mobo: h77-d3h
8gb ram
Gpu: r9-280x sapphire tri-x
Psu: Corsair RM850
Using windows 10

Heres detailed explanation of my problem:
Nigh before the problem i have played some games and then went to sleep, next morning when i tried to turn on the PC there was no display and monitor just goes to sleep.
Now, im not an novice in pc building and fixing, i have been doing that like a hobby for many years, but this is strangest problem i have ever had.

This is what i have tried and done:

Since there is no display at all, i cant go into bios or anything so i connected to onboard graphic and it all works fine. From there i have uninstalled amd drivers, but when i tried to install them again it said it cant install because there is no hardware, and gpu doesnt show in device manager so i cant do anything from there. I have updated bios, and reset the bios also.

Yes, gpu is running, lights on side are on and fans are spinning, yes i have connected all cables, yes its well placed in apropriate pci 16 slot.

I thought gpu died, so i have tried my gpu on another pc with my psu(so i can be sure both psu and gpu work) and it all works well on other pc, it shows gpu it runs, its all ok.

So i thought maybe its mobo and the socket, i have tried another gpu in my system and it works well, i have tried couple of em and its all ok.

I thought monitor is a problem maybe, so I connected it on another pc and xbox one and monitor works.

I have also tried different outputs, im using hdmi but i have tried dvi and vga and no use.

Basically my psu, my gpu and my monitor work on another system. And another gpu works on my system, but just my gpu and my system wont work together. Its not a new system, i have been using it for years with no problem at all. Its suddenly, over night.

I have also disconected drives to be sure no software is problem and its all the same, another gpu works but mine doesnt, no display at all.

Its really weird problem, its like my gpu and my mobo wont talk anymore.

No solutions forthcoming from me, but willing to chip in to bounce ideas about. You seem to have checked everything I can think of off the top of my head.

Sounds very strange, though initially I would lean towards something corrupting. In Device Manager have you checked/ticked the show hidden devices option to see if the graphics card shows up there? It's the only thing I don't see you mentioning doing.

I read somewhere (for Nvidia cards, not sure how applicable it is to AMD's) that if the graphics card shows up as a hidden device, then it would require an .ini file tweak to get the PC to see the card properly. Unfortunately I don't recall where the information came from so I can link it.

The other thing you haven't mentioned is trying the other PCIe slot. Not ideal if it does work there, but better than nothing.

Yes i have tried showing hidden devices and there was nothing there.
But now i have tried using different PCIe slot and it works! So thank you. Tho thats strange. Seems like PCIex16 slot is done for, but i have tried different cards in there and they all worked... Its not possible that my card suddenly cant fit there properly.
Anyway PCIex4 3.0 works, i just wonder how much will it affect performance, i have read some reviews and it doesnt seem like much, but in certain games fps loss is quite bigger.
Im now just wondering whats the problem, mobo or gpu? I dont want to make a mistake and buy wrong part, my problem is now more orientated on these threads and many more like that

That is strange. Strange because you know the PCIe x16 slot works with other graphics cards, and the graphics card works in another PC. It's the combination of the two which, for whatever reason, fails. I would guess it's something like the contacts between the two aren't quite right, but when paired with something else it's fine. (Even then that's stretching it a bit as the problem was sudden.)

How much a performance hit it will take in the x4 slot will likely depend on how much data is moved. The theoretical maximum is reduced to 1/4 of what the x16 slot is theoretically capable of. For reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#History_and_revisions

Mind you, that's theoretically approximately as fast as a PCIe 1.0 x16 slot; and with multi graphics card set ups it's also fine. At least it will work until you decide what to do next. Looks like those other threads didn't bring forth any solutions either. Here's hoping another forum member sees this and has something to contribute.
