This is my system ....
motherboard intel DG33FB
cpu intel E8400 3.0Ghz
ram 2GB DDR2
os WinXP sp3

I would like to play games like Unreal 2004 , Quake 4 , Doom 3 , Left 4 dead with good res and smooth & fast video
which is the optimal graphics card for this situation.
Lets keep the cost within 20000 INR.

Thanks to all those who reply.

what kind of screen res do you play at and power supply do you have. if you don't have a very powerful supply, you want be able to use high end cards, and if you play at lower res, most of the best cards are just overkill

I second both the above posts. First a new PSU, then a new Vid card. Look for: Antec, BFG, Thermaltake, Zalman, PC P&C, Corsair, or OCZ. The pick up a 4830, or 4850 as either mid range card will do fine.

Guys i see that most of the newer cards require 650W PSU at least.
Changing the PSU is not a problem.

But the ATI RADEON 4850 specifies 450W. and the retailers suggest it as a equivalent to 9800GTX . (both with 1GB ram)

ALSO...

I ran Quake 4 on my system with a 8400GT with 512mb ddr2 which i got from a friend.
The res was set at 1024*768
While the disply seemed ok i felt the speed was slow.
ie. movement of the characters.

IS this part of the game or will be better after adding a better card. Will adding more system ram help with game speed.

8400 GT is too low power card dude. Go for a 9500GT atleast for that resolution.Or a HD 4650 or 9600GSO
