Suggest a power supply for i7-4790k, no external GPU

Hi,

I am planning to make the following build:

CPU: i7-4790k
MB: GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2 x 8GB DDR3
SSD: 128GB A-Data
HDD: 4TB WD
GPU: Integrated

CPU will be overclocked to about 4.5GHz.

Can you please suggest a decent power supply for that build?

if you plan on OC'ing i would go with a good 550W PSU, just to leave headroom. This will also cover any GPU upgrade if you deem necessary down the road.

If on a budget, get the Corsair CX550 instead.

The GX 550W is fine and even scores well on Johnnyguru. Corsair makes some good PSU but the CX550 is not one of them, i wouldnt touch a CX550 even to slap my ex-GF with it.

For the old Corsair CX seriesd with Green label, i agree. But for the newer Grey label units, and 550w is a grey label unit, is very fine and decent and one of the best in that price range.

Yeah, true, but that really isn't saying much.

Since most in that price range are dumpster fire power supply shaped units.
