I can easily afford this but I had somewhere read that if a big power suply dies, it takes all the components along with it? Is it true and what are the chances that m12ii 860 wil die?

I think you're confusing "big power supply" with "crap power supply". PC power supplies are basically high quality transformers (at least the good ones), as the actual consumption depends on the components and the VRMs of the various components, and being advanced electronics these components require very stable power.

Bad power supplies can in fact damage components over time due to bad ripple (how much higher and lower the voltage goes compared to the intended voltage), and also damage them when they die (depending on the way a bad power supply dies, ripple can momentarily spike, damaging components from excessive voltage). High quality power supplies (such as Seasonic's offerings) have built-in safety features to prevent anything like this from ever happening on top of having very good ripple suppression.
