your processor will limit the peak performance of any of the new gen cards, be it amd or nvidia.
to run new games you have to change your processor and upgrade to 4gb ddr3 ram as most of the new games require at least that much.even if you have a very powerful graphics card new games will not run smoothly

then getting another 2gb ddr2 wont help, you have to change your whole rig.
