Suggested gaming laptop for up to £500?

The number in the brackets is the overall performance chart position for mobile CPUs/GPUs.

Any thoughts? Better laptops, perhaps?

Go for the Asus with 6 gigs of ram. While that 710M is a little older and has 1 gig of GDDR3 vs the 2 in the 720M, the 710M performs better than it. The integrated gpu's are pretty much crap any ways.

For £498, I can get:

i5-4210M (#78), 8GB RAM and the GT 850M (#36) (which is the same price as the GT 840M for some reason).

well most people don't have a spare OS to hand so I include that in the price - but yeah I5 4210M is enough for gaming.
Don't complain that there's no price difference... Just get it quickly before they realise. But this sort of config is £700 + on retail So yeah enjoy
